Frequently asked questions
I coach product executives targeting Director, VP, and CPO roles, or L7 to L9 at companies like Google and Meta. The people we work best with are already experts in their domain and in AI. They have built and led large organizations, and they come to us to make that depth visible. What often brings them is a specific kind of outcome. The process went well in a lot of ways, and then they heard it was a close call, or got mixed feedback with little explanation of why. It's confusing, because the judgment is there. It just isn't coming through in a 45-minute conversation the way it does in their work. That's the work we do together. We sharpen how you find the question behind the question, frame the problem, choose the communication technique that fits it, and make a clear point of view land, so the judgment you already have is what the interviewer hears.
We coach live on your actual stories, cases, and situations, with the focus on how you frame them. We work on finding the question behind the question, knowing which framing and communication technique fits each type of question, and making a clear point of view land with an executive audience, whether that's a CEO, a board member, or a panel of leaders at a company like Google, Meta, OpenAI, Anthropic, and more.At this level, the interviewer is trying to understand how you think when the problem is ambiguous and the stakes cross organizations. So the work is thinking, not frameworks. These skills carry across every type of question, so what we build on one story shows up in all of them.To see the thinking first, here are two videos: AI product sense and powerful narratives using leadership communication techniques. You're also welcome at our free monthly roundtable. You can bring your own situation, have me coach you live, and decide for yourself if it resonates. Schedules and past recordings are in the free community.
Our group coaching is built around skills every person in the group needs: finding the question behind the question, framing the problem, and knowing which communication technique and tool fits each type of question. When someone brings a case or a story, it becomes the material the whole group practices those skills on, so everyone is working the problem at the same time. Groups are capped at 8, and 3 to 4 people usually attend each live session. For a case interview, the whole group works the case live, step by step, and we push on every move, including why a given framing or first principle fits that type of question.Behavioral work goes a layer deeper. We focus on finding the question behind the question. One person gives their interpretation, someone else gives a different one, and then we pressure-test both, because the first answer is usually surface-level.We shape each session around what people bring that week. That is how we keep the coaching customized to your situation instead of canned, and how we give you the most up-to-date guidance while the industry is shifting fast. You also get a private content library. Every live session is recorded, and you keep access to everything after your coaching window ends.
Our clients have landed offers as Director at Google, Director at Meta, Senior Director at Coinbase, Director at Roku, VP at Calendly, and a Super IC role at Anthropic. These clients have landed offers up to $3.6M in annual total comp. See recent outcomes at nancychu.co/wins.What changes at these levels is the scope of your judgment. L7 at companies like Google and Meta is the last level where the work is still yours. From L8 onward, the job is to produce outcomes through organizations you do not run. At L9, you shape direction across many orgs.A VP, head of product, or CPO at a smaller company has a different job again. They are often the extension of the founder, taking product off the founder's plate so the founder can focus on the business. Each of these is a different interview, and we prepare for the one you're walking into. For the full level-by-level breakdown, see L7, L8, and L9 product leadership interviews.
This is often the best time to start. Reaching out before anything is on the calendar usually means you already sense this takes time to build, and that instinct is right. The work is a way of thinking and communicating that takes reps, so it grows best without a deadline. Clients who've been most successful started months earlier, and the skills built up in the background. When the right opportunity came, they were ready. The same skills show up in your current role right away. You'll see them in how you frame a strategy for your CEO, how you communicate with your leadership team or board, and how you make the case for a bigger scope. Many clients come to us for this alone, with no job search planned. What has worked well is doing about half of the program before activating your network and search firms, and the other half once active interviews start.
You can join anytime. Whether 1 week is enough depends on where you're starting from.If you're already a strong communicator and you've been through similar interview loops, a few sessions of focused work can sharpen what's already there. If this is your first loop at this level, or if communication is the area we'd focus on, in my experience we typically need more time. For Product Sense, Strategy, and Analytical rounds at companies like Google, OpenAI, and Meta, plan on about 2 to 3 weeks if you've been through those loops before, and 1 to 2 months if you haven't. Executive processes with CEO conversations, a strategy presentation, or time with board members vary more.
Coaching with us is a practice you build over time, so the hours look different for everyone.Clients making progress spend anywhere from 1 to 4 hours a day on the work, depending on what's coming up. Some come to live sessions weekly, some every 2 or 3 weeks, and some stretch the program over 6 to 12 months because that's what their role and life needed. One client didn't get the Meta offer the first time around. They knew they couldn't rush it, and the 12-month pace is the one that worked for them. Our clients run large teams and organizations, so the work is built to fit around what's already on your calendar.A missed week doesn't break your momentum, because the skills we work on carry across every case and story, so the next session you attend builds on the same foundation. Every session is recorded. Much of the work happens between sessions, in the writing and thinking you submit as homework for our review and edits.
At companies like Google, OpenAI, Anthropic, Meta, annual total comp at L8 starts at $2M a year, which is more than $38,000 a week. Our clients have received offers of up to $3.6M in total comp per year. If working with us helps you land the right role even one week sooner than you would on your own, the program has paid for itself. The skills you build also stay with you if a search takes longer than you hoped. They show up in the next interview, the one after, and in how you lead once you're in the role. The money goes toward something you keep.We refund unused sessions if it isn't the right fit. Recent outcomes are at nancychu.co/wins.
A success rate is tempting because it feels like a way to predict what will happen. We don't publish one, because an offer comes from work we do together, and the biggest variable is what you bring to it. What we can share is the scale of what our clients have achieved.30 offers so far in 2026 (as of Sep 2026)81 offers at 45 companies since 202412 offers over $900K in total comp, up to $3.6MWe are a small business. Groups are capped at 8, and 3 to 4 people usually attend each live session, so these offers come from a small number of clients doing focused work. These offers span GPM, Director, Senior Director, Head of Product, VP, and Super IC roles at companies like Google, Meta, Anthropic, OpenAI, Microsoft, Stripe, Nvidia, Apple, Coinbase, Calendly, and more. Some clients join to prepare for interviews already on the calendar. Others join to sharpen how they lead in their current role and be ready when the right opportunity comes. Both are valid, and neither fits into one number. See updated client outcomes.
Yes. Interviewing is one of the many moments where deep thinking under pressure matters, and we also work with Directors and VPs on leading in their current role, onboarding into a new scope in the first 90 days, and earning the next promotion. The skill underneath all of them is the same: thinking clearly under pressure and communicating it so it lands with a CEO, a board, or a leadership team.
